Descrição: O curso 2020 "Molecular Methodologies for Epidemiology and Diagnosis of Invasive Fungal Infections (IFI)" apresentará uma Revisão histórica e desenvolvimento dos conhecimentos em diagnóstico laboratorial das micoses sistêmicas e oportunistas invasivas: Metodologias convencionais e novas abordagens para identificação rápida das IFI e seus agentes. Técnicas convencionais e moleculares para identificação e classificação (taxonomia) de agentes de IFI. Fatores de virulência dos agentes de IFI. Métodos moleculares de diagnóstico e epidemiologia molecular das IFI e genotipagem dos seus agentes.
Objetivo Geral: The main objectives of the course are: a) Update students and professionals to enable them to develop a reflective process on diagnosis and research, b) Consolidate knowledge with a view to incorporating technological innovations, c) Awaken the critical sense to evaluate what was found in the laboratory and also be prepared to analyze and interpret the unknown and the new.
Justificativa: This course is important to the internationalization of INI´s PG Program in Clinical Research, as well as to project the PG of Fiocruz. Laboratory approach by molecular methodologies in the diagnosis of invasive mycoses, the classic Systemic and Opportunistic Mycoses. Adaptation to parasitism, virulence and thermotolerance factors. Classification of diseases caused by primary pathogenic and opportunistic organisms. Molecular identification of pathogenic fungal agents in clinical samples, and molecular identification of fungal agents isolated from lesions in humans and animals. Immunological and molecular diagnosis of Invasive Fungal Infections. Molecular methodologies for genotyping, molecular epidemiology of microorganisms, detection of virulence factors, and evaluation of resistance to antifungals, antibiotics, antiparasites, etc. Knowledge of laboratory tools used in clinical research.
The main general objectives are to promote the qualitative and quantitative progression of the scientific production of teachers and students in our PG program at INI/Fiocruz by training and updating knowledge in molecular methodologies. To intensify the internationalization process of the PG program at INI/Fiocruz.
