O “Meeting on Thymus Transcriptome and Cell Biology” ou “Encontro sobre Transcriptoma e Biologia Celular do Timo” foi idealizado 2015 envolvendo grupos interessados no Brasil pelos estudos da fisiologia e mecanismos que regem a linfopoiese de linfócitos T. Organizado inicialmente por Geraldo Aleixo Passos (Grupo de Imunogenética Molecular – USP de Ribeirão Preto) com apoio de Wilson Savino e Daniella Arêas Mendes da Cruz (Laboratório de Pesquisas sobre o Timo, Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, Fiocruz), a primeira edição foi considerada extremamente produtiva, e ao final da mesma, decidiu-se pela realização de encontros frequentes, alternando entre as duas principais Instituições envolvidas, sendo um ano em Ribeirão Preto (na USP) e outro no Rio de Janeiro (na Fiocruz), visando a facilitação da participação dos estudantes.
Em 2023 realizaremos a sexta edição do evento que tem como objetivos a divulgação da pesquisa científica realizada no país envolvendo genética e biologia celular do timo; a indução de novas colaborações científicas nacionais e internacionais; e a formação/qualificação de recursos humanos para pesquisa na área, através da participação de estudantes em apresentações orais, além das discussões informais com os professores e pesquisadores participantes.
O evento será presencial no auditório Maria Deane, localizado no Pavilhão Leonidas Deane no campus Fiocruz, Rio de Janeiro - RJ, nos dias 27 e 28 de Novembro de 2023

The "Meeting on Thymus Transcriptome and Cell Biology," was conceived in 2015 involving groups interested in the study of the physiology and mechanisms governing T lymphocyte lymphopoiesis in Brazil. Initially organized by Geraldo Aleixo Passos (Molecular Immunogenetics Group - USP Ribeirão Preto) with the support of Wilson Savino and Daniella Arêas Mendes da Cruz (Thymus Research Laboratory, Oswaldo Cruz Institute, Fiocruz), the first edition was considered extremely productive. At the end of it, the decision was made to hold regular meetings, alternating between the two main institutions involved: one year in Ribeirão Preto (at USP) and the next in Rio de Janeiro (at Fiocruz), aiming to facilitate student participation.
In 2023, we will hold the sixth edition of the event, which aims to promote scientific research conducted in the country involving thymus genetics and cell biology, foster new national and international scientific collaborations, and provide training and qualification for human resources in research in this field. This will be achieved through student participation in oral presentations and informal discussions with participating professors and researchers.
The event will take place in person at the Maria Deane Auditorium, located in the Leonidas Deane Pavilion on the Fiocruz campus in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, on November 27th and 28th, 2023.
