INFORMATION

The ultimate goal is to discuss current and new approaches that seek to improve the efficacy, cost-effectiveness, ecological soundness and sustainability of disease-vector control. This course includes the following topics:
- Reasons why we need new alternatives for arbovirus control.
- Traditional vector control – the use of insecticides and mosquito resistance.
- Genetic strategies for vector control.
- The use of transgenic and Wolbachia-transinfected mosquitoes, and mosquito-disseminated pyriproxyfen as strategies for vector control and reduction of arbovirus transmission.
- The role of gut microbiota on mosquito vector competence.
- Molecular methods for outbreak prevention.
